BODY, RIVER, WIND and TREES

The fluidity of body-world relationship

Marion Dieterle presents a collection of gravure prints and paintings drawn from walks, they are like a journal of sensory experiences of environmental exploration. With the means of dance and poetry she invites these walking experiences into the space in the present moment.

The artist is looking at the lived body as a being engaged both in leaping out and falling back. Through it’s sensorimotor surface the body projects outward to the world. At the same time it recedes from it’s own apprehension into anonymous visceral depths.

The body is never a simple presence but, that which is away from itself a being of difference and absence. We live in bodies beyond bodies, clothes, furniture, room, house, garden, land, recapitulating in ever expanding circles aspects of our own corporeality. The world we discover leads us to redesign the body itself.
